Two ergonomic studies (one by VSI Risk Management & Ergonomics Inc. in California and one by the University of Brighton in the UK) have established Penguin as the leading ergonomic mouse on the market today. The studies found that:
The design of a standard mouse is one of the main risk factors for hand and wrist pain. The Penguin mouse encourages the wrist to remain in a neutral position, which reduces hand and wrist strain. Resting the hand on the symmetrical base forces the larger muscles of the arm and shoulder to do the work, minimizing static pressure on the wrist and forearm that could lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Repetitive Strain Disorder.
The Penguin mouse may look new and unfamiliar, but you’ll find it’s very intuitive and easy to use:
The Penguin mouse comes in three sizes so your mouse will be ideally suited to your hand. Measure from the bottom of the hand to the tip of the middle finger.
The Penguin mouse is made with careful attention to quality and detail, creating a final product you can depend on day after day:
A very good alternative to a conventional mouse. Can be used with either hand if you like, but does make a significant difference to comfort even if you choose only to use one hand.
I like using the Penguin. It takes time to adjust to it. Yet after about 4 weeks it feels very familiar.
I'm so pleased with the Penguin mouse, within a couple of hours the difference was amazing.
Been having problems with my little finger on my right hand - nerves playing up and waking up with a dead finger.
Occupational Health at Imperial College London lent me a Penguin to try for a week and it has solved the problem. Have bought one for home use as well. I can thoroughly recommend this vertical mouse. Took my less than a day to learn how to use it.
It took me a few days to get used to the Penguin Mouse. I hadn't used a vertical mouse before and because you use your shoulder muscles rather than your wrist muscles, the resolution feels different to begin with. Now I'm used to it, its done wonders for my wrist pains and I'm just efficient as I was with a standard grip mouse. Overall an excellent investment.
Great mouse that is very quick to adapt to. Has helped to relieve RSI sypmtoms in forearms. the base is a tad bulky which can make it feel awkward to move around but I can see why iits there
This product worked perfectly for about a year, fixed my sore elbow, then one of the buttons failed.
This mice is comfortable, elegant and efficient. It took me about a day or two to get used to making small movements with my "whole arm", but that would be true for any vertical mouse. After a week, I am progressively using it with my left hand, alternating depending on the task. I like how the wheel is super silent. It is Plug-and-play on LINUX. A great investment.
Got my new mouse on Thursday. Only took 2 days for delivery, which was great. I have used vertical mice before so didnt have any problem getting used to it as some reviewers seem to have.
Overall feels very quality. Great ergonomics as it allows me to swap hands regularly. The DPI settings are very handy as they allow you to adjust the mouse cursor resolution. This is definitely my mouse of choice now. Nice work Posturite.
I was given a Penguin Mouse at work to alleviate wrist pain. Its so good Im buying one for home use too. Took a little while to adjust to the left click, but once I had adjusted the speed it was fine.
Wow, I have to say after using this for 7 hours straight on an 8-hour shift and then reverting to a standard mouse for the last hour, what a difference this has made to the way I use a mouse (or penguin). Firstly, it felt very natural to use for the first time (unlike a trackball, which takes a lot of getting used to). Secondly, when you revert to using a standard mouse after a long busy shift at the computer (I work in I.T. for a living), the standard mouse actually seems so unnatural and I wonder how I ever used one for so long before.
I cant say enough about this product. Ive had it for one day and it makes a huge difference in the way I work.
I would make a couple of suggestions to either the heavy or casual user:
1. Use the high or maximum DPI setting so theres less "jitter" and more close/precise control.
2. Use your control panel / mouse settings (Windows) to adjust the double-click (slow it down a bit), pointer speed and scrolling speed to an optimum setting. This will vary according to the users needs, so play around with these settings until youre happy with them.
Ive tried a few different ergonomically designed mice, and this is far and away the best! Simple to set up and didnt take long to get used to. I wish I had this years ago!
Got one on the advice of my Chiropractor to relieve RSI symptoms and shoulder pain. Really pleased! Both symptoms have disappeared. The mouse took a couple of hours to get used to but now I dont even think about it. Really comfortable to use. Cant recommend it enough.
I am on the computer 40hrs/week minimum. The pain in my right hand began to subside the day I began using the Penguin. After 1 week the pain and tenderness were gone. Aside from the ergonomic design, the Penguin is an excellent mouse. I had no problems switching to it. it took me less than a day to feel comfortable with it. Im glad it comes in different sizes as I have large hands and this mouse fits me very well. Although the mouse is straight up vertical its design allows for a relaxed grasp both vertically and with my hand turned towards the mouse which I really like because I find it more comfortable to change my hand position throughout the day.
The Penguin is great. I was able almost instantly to have the same level of accuracy and control that I have with a traditional mouse, but with no hint of pain even after long sessions.
Only two things to mention. The first is very minor: every time you turn on your computer you have to press the DPI button on the Penguin to select the desired level. Would be nice if it could remember it.
Secondly I want to address something that Ive seen mentioned in reviews on other websites - that the buttons are cheap, weak or will wear out. Both buttons do have quiet, cushioned clicks, and in the case of the top, "left-click" button, quite a bit of travel. To be honest they do feel a little like they might not last, but after a few weeks of use Ive developed confidence that it is just that the design is "soft-click" and theyre fine. They just feel significantly different to the solid click you may be used to.
Very happy with my purchase, thank you.
I was experiencing aches and pains accross the back of my hand. This mouse means the hand is supported (albeit on its side) and all is now well, thank you. It took a short while to get used to the new movement, but am very happy now.
This product was bought for one of us in the office who gets wrist and hand pain when using the mouse. Since using it he hasn't experienced any pain at all and now uses the Penguin on every computer desktop and laptop he uses.
Also most people in the office have had ago with the Penguin and were surprised at how quickly you get used to its operation. It also had the nice side effect of making a few of us notice that our seat height wasn't correct! Great product.

Easy to get used to using. – 10/2/2015
Easy to get used to using. Very comfortable, I bought to help with tennis elbow. Whist my hand measurement suggested I should order the medium, I actually needed the small.
